Kamaljit Kaur
Kamaljit, a blend of humanist and spiritualist virtues, advocates for a broader acceptance and recognition of our shared humanity, promoting positive and inclusive interactions within communities. Her efforts are rooted in the conviction that understanding and embracing our differences is key to building stronger, more cohesive societies.
As an alumnus of the University of British Columbia, where she majored in Intercultural Studies, Kamaljit has honed her ability to establish respectful and productive relationships across diverse cultural landscapes. Her education has enriched her with intercultural intelligence and practical skills essential for understanding and collaborating with individuals from various backgrounds. She has dedicated her life to supporting immigrants and families through their unique challenges, guiding them towards cultural integration and providing a compassionate hand to those affected by trauma, abuse, or violence. She stands as a strong advocate for peace and respect for all life on our planet.
She previously founded and operated Just Pathways Immigration and Education Consulting and brings nearly a decade of experience in Canadian immigration and settlement support. Her work included assisting individuals and families from diverse cultural backgrounds with immigration pathways to Canada, particularly in the areas of family reunification and humanitarian considerations.
Her experience also extended to working with prominent nonprofit organizations in Vancouver and the Lower Mainland of British Columbia, where she supported newcomers and vulnerable communities through settlement guidance, advocacy, and community-based services.
Kamaljit has provided emotional counseling and support services to a diverse group of individuals, including women, children, seniors, and their families, navigating the complexities of domestic violence at various stages, as well as during their engagements with the legal and social systems.
She has also been instrumental in organizing and leading numerous workshops and informational sessions aimed at culturally specific communities. These sessions focus on understanding the nuances of family violence, exploring prevention strategies, and considering alternative approaches to intervention and support.
